Hello,

Hello, my name is Heather Hilz Fitzgerald! I am an educator in Southern California and a Future EdTech Coach.   

 

My goal is to inspire educators to incorporate digital tools to help support standards-based learning with the goal of mastery.  Being able to encourage, growth, proficiency, goal setting, and reflection amongst their own students can be a  powerful teaching tool.  Our 21st Century Learning era must be accounted for, therefore through the use of technology and Blended Learning approaches, Project Based Learning, and connections to real-world scenarios are at the utmost importance for our students.  Another area that I am passionate about is inclusion, all students need to be a part of grade level content but should be accommodated or have modifications when necessary for their learning style and abilities.

Therefore, my reasoning to embark on the Leading Edge Certification process was being able to adapt and refine the learning experiences for students through the use of technology, differentiation, and personal performance should be taken into consideration.  Overall, I wanted to embrace  Blended Learning Pedagogies to help strengthen the culture of a school setting and to look beyond just academics, but that each individual can develop a deep sense of self through a personalized learning approach.
